Meagan and Rainy Fort Lauderdale Engagement Session

I try to shot outdoor as much as I can. Not only is the light more vibrant but it also give you more choices in backdrop. When Meagan contacted me we quickly decided that we would do a two location shoot. One downtown Fort Lauderdale and the other at the beach. Unfortunately, our original date the weather got the best of us. Meagan called me on the way home from work, she works in Boca which is a town over from where I live and said it was terrible in Fort Lauderdale where they live and Rainy was. I told her that is crazy it was beautiful in Delray. A few hours later Delray was gloomy and rainy.

When I finally got to photograph them I got so worried. I arrived in Fort Lauderdale a bit early to scope out some location and to watch the weather. While it did get gloomy, no rain!

The session was great. Meagan and Rainy are getting married in Texas but wanted to get some photographs for Save the Dates and such. We had a great time walking around and finding cool places. We then headed to the beach. To say the beach was windy would be putting it nicely. Thankfully it was pretty quite but we had to really work with the wind.

Meagan and Rainy were a delight to work with constantly laughing and enjoying each other.

Yvette and Jesus Engagement Session: Sneak Peak: Coconut Creek Florida

Living in Florida there is one place I come to over and over again to shot, the beach. I love the beach. I love shooting at the beach, I love hanging out at the beach there are only a couple things I do not like about the beach like sand. But like living any where that has a distinct geographical feature you sometimes want to change it up. So I was super excited when Yvette and Jesus for there engagement session wanted to do it on a ranch with horses!

First off, I love horses. I rode as a kid at camp so it is very nostalgic for me and secondly because I have never done that. I know horses are pretty big in Florida so we started looking at ranches. I gave Yvette and few choice and she quickly picked Millpond Farms in Coconut Creek. She loved the lushness of the greenery and the pond they had on the property.

We had such a lovely time walking around talking about horses. Jesus grew up riding and it still an avid riding currently teaching Yvette.

Al and Tammy's Sundy House Wedding in Delray Beach

I met Al and Tammy at the Sundy house a few weeks before there wedding to go over details. I really do find it helpful do go through the whole day with all my clients and if I can do it at the location. While I know the Sundy House quite well this was my first time shooting a wedding there and to say I was excited might be an under statement. Tammy felt the same. She loved the whole nature wildernessy vibe of the Sundy House.

The night before there wedding I got a call from Al to tell me that Tammy's family had rented a room for her and the girls at the Sundy House the night before so we would be able to do getting ready shots there. This was so cool and really nice to get ready there and be able to walk right over to the gazebo where the ceremony would take place.

The ceremony was done by a friend and guest of the wedding and was very intimate. The whole time Tammy's parents and they whole bridal party were just glowing with joy for the almost married couple. Once they were married Tammy and Al allowed me to sneak them away to a few awesome spots to get some great photos. Then I finally allowed them to enjoy all there friends and family that were waiting anxiously to congratulate them.

It was a beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple.

Arley and Sam Rubell Family Collection Gallery Wedding Miami

Arley and Sam's wedding ceremony took place at the beautiful Temple Israel of Greater Miami which was built in 1926. In Florida old is totally different then New England. When I arrived they were just finishing up a rehearsal which was great to see. After that both parties headed to different rooms to finish up getting ready.

Once everyone was ready Sam and his parents joined Arley and her parents, once we located her father to sign the Keatubah which is basically a Jewish marriage certificate. They are usually quite pretty and you display them in your home. The signing of the Keatubah is such a nice quite time before the ceremony and reception where the Rabbi encouraged the couples parents to give them advice for a happy marriage.

The ceremony was beautiful, though a bit hot in the temple. After the ceremony everyone headed to the Rubell Family Collection Gallery where the reception was held. The gallery full of beautiful pieces and everyone ate, drank and danced the night away. Arley and Sam were such a pleasure to work with and such a sweet loving couple.

Iris and Joe's Rock and Roll Wedding Miami Wedding Photography

Most brides I work with I have the pleasure to met before hand which is the case with Iris but about the half time I do not meet the groom until the day of. When Iris and I met up we found out quickly we both had a lot in common. She is a graphic designer, which I was for a moment with not to much success or joy, but she understands the creative side of things so we talked about that and Iris is a runner though not so much in my sense of run a couples miles every other day no she is a marathoner which I think is pretty awesome.
On Iris and Joe's wedding day I met them at the church in Miami which had a beautiful small chapel full of stain class windows and tons of light. The ceremony was a traditional Catholic ceremony with some beautiful readings by friends and family members. During the ceremony while it was very traditional it still felt very personal.
After the ceremony we got some great family photos and then they rode off in a vintage Bentley to there reception space which was a small hall. Once everyone was introduced and had something to eat. The party started. Joe is what I would call a ham. He loves music and he loves dancing and it not afraid to show it. Everyone danced and sang the evening away.

Joe and Iris and there whole family were super friendly and fun. I had an amazing time photographing there wedding and wish them all the best in their married life!

Madeline and Peter: Delray Beach Children Photography

Madeline and Peter's mother, Marnie, contacted me because they were going to be visiting there grandparents in lovely Delray Beach Florida and they wanted some photos done so they could but them on a Christmas card. Unfortunately, due to some sickness there trip was postponed and they did not come down until post Christmas which meant no Christmas card photo but still an absolutely beautiful session.

Madeline was a mix of shy and cautious about taking photos but once we started discussing the important things, books, the color pink and the little mermaid she opening up.

Her brother Peter on the other hand was very easy going and as long as he did not find something to crawl to was happy to sit and flash a little smile once in a while.

I am always happy to hear from people I have photographed in the past and even more so when the first time I photographed them was when there beautiful baby girl was so small. It is truly amazing be able to come back and photographed a new family that has grown so much just in a matter of months. This was Serafina's first time at the beach ever. We found a quieter spot but she was trying to figure out her surroundings. Serafina's parents Aaron and Tamu are absolute sweet hearts and you can see the love they have for there beautiful baby. We even got her in the cutest bikini ever for some fun shots on the sand.

Tara and Chris's Wedding Stonebridge Country Club Boca Raton Florida

Tara and Chris had so many special people to share there beautiful wedding with. It was amazing to see the excitement of all these people as they entered the wedding because we just happen to be doing formal bridal photographs at the main entrance.

Once everyone made it back to the clubhouse the ceremony got underway. Even though they had already seen each other you could still feel the excitement as Chris saw Tara walk down the isle.

After the lovely ceremony guests enjoyed cocktail hour.

The formal introductions followed by there first dance.

I think the mark of a great toast is it is both funny and touching both speeches provided that and more. I personally get embarrassed really easily and have a hard time listening to speeches even when they are not about me but the more speeches I here the more I see how while they might be embarrassing it is meant with so much love by people that are truly happy to be spending such an amazing day with you.

Now on the the fun part. Tara and Chris along with there guests partied the night away.

Quick break for cupcake eating, I guess. There was no cutting but there was a little cake smooshing.

And then the always fun and exciting bouquet toss and garter getting.

11.11.11 is a great date but for Tara and Chris is was full of importance. I have so many wonderful photos that I am going to break this up into a few posts. First up: getting ready.

I arrived at noon and around 3pm the boys showed up. I went over to the mens locker room which was a little awkward to walk in there. Note: the wedding took place at a country club. But it took the boys no time to make that awkwardness fully known and enjoy it.

And then they were ready to go.

Back in the girls locker room Tara was busy putting the final touches on her look.

This past week I photographed the sweetest family. John, Jes, Jentz and Coyra were such a pleasure to photography. We had post pond the shoot due to bad weather and were so lucky to get a rare overcast day in south florida. I have a squeaky toy that I use to get kids attention but Coyra was way more interested in it. Coyra was super sweet and great with Jentz but the squeaky toy had to go away other wise it was going to become a Coyra toy.

Doing photography has allowed me to meet people from all over south florida and from so many places in the world it is nice to meet someone who literally lives around the corner! I met Chad, Sarah and Mia for a session in the late afternoon at a near by park hoping it would have cooled off a little. Some how it seemed to get hotter as the session went on and we got the added bonus of nats! Nonetheless, the whole family was super easy going and we got some stunning images.

What to Wear: Maternity Edition

You have just booked a maternity session now what do wear? There are lots of different types of clothes you can choose from but I want to make sure it reflects you and the outcomes of your photographs. This is a very important time in your life, first in a life time, maybe once in a life time or maybe the last in your lifetime so lets make it great.

First style "fully clothed". I recommend all clients do some sort of iterations of this because it captures the more everyday. So what will you wear for this? Comfortable, everyday clothes that you like. It can be nice to wear something a little tight so it really shows off the belly but if you are more comfortable in something flowly then with that. As far as colors go anything goes as long as you are comfortable in it. Try to avoid anything super trendy so that it might not be as easy to pin point the exact decade, oh 90s photos.

Second style "semi showing" which means being in a bra type top or unbuttoning your shirt so your belly shows. These are great shots so you get to see the beautifulness of your belly but not bearing all. This shot is easy enough to do out in public especially on the beach and is a good way to get some shots that defiantly show you are pregnant with out having to totally strip down. Some great options for this is a button down shirt, light tank top or full coverage bra. Anything that you can open or roll up that will not be to distracting. Button down shirt, husband or yours works great!

Lastly is "all out". I have not shot any like this but it would be a done in the home and be more boudior but maybe not as sexy or more sexy! An easy "all out" style is a button down shirt and boy shorts. This is a great comfortable semi reviling look that will both show off your belly and you.

happy friday! I thought it would be super easy to find one photo I could but up as a quick preview to Dawn and Hector's maternity shoot but I am just so happy with so many of them. We shot at 7am on the beach in Fort Lauderdale and it was amazing!!! A quick look into the getting ready stages of a beautiful Miami area wedding. Coming from the North East and growing up with New York City and Boston as the two main cities I have had a hard time understanding Miami. In my understanding South Beach is like Times Square but besides that I do not really know what Miami is. While the two places where Monica and Nelsons wedding took place do not have Miami address, I think they are part of Miami, I am not sure. Either way it was a beautifully touching wedding full of beautiful details and an overwhelming amount of love.

Carmina Maternity Session (Palm Beach County Photography)

This is my first summer working full time as a photographer and I have never been more weather obsessed. This past Saturday I had a maternity session with the lovely Carmina and Stefan. The whole day I was just staring at the sky. If you live or have ever visiting south florida during the summer you know it could down pour for 5 minutes or 5 hours or it could drizzle the whole day. Thankfully the weather held out.
Carmina and Stefan were such good sports and some of the few Floridians who actually spend time at the beach and you could tell. They were fearless running in and out of the water and laying in the sand. It was such a pleasure to get to photography them as they are on the journey to their first child.

Here are a few more from the great session I had an a perfectly gloomy day for taking photos. Janeen and her family which also includes two adorable dogs that loved jumping on my lap every time I squatted down and would make balancing very interesting. the session went really well and I am so happy with the results. Thank you guys so much for being so laid back and having such a good time.

On another note blogspot has made a lot of changes and i am trying to figure them out. so far vertical photos enlarge great. horizontal not so much. the new uploaded is supurb much like wordpress but better because you can important multiple photos into a post at once. Not that I say that I feel like maybe I just do not know how to use wordpress. But either way I am pretty happy with the changes and just hope horizontal photos get fixed soon too!

I am so luck to have gotten to photography not one but three beautiful baby girls this past Saturday. First up, the beautiful poised Ava! Ava was super sweet and so cute.

Then Lily, she is a couple months older then Ava and you could tell she was constantly on the move but she made sure to give me some windows to show off her beautiful big eyes.

And last but not least, Annabelle. If that face does melt your heart I am not sure what would. Also, notice anything similar in all three photos? Trust me there are so many more good ones to come. South Florida Recycled Dog Rescue, Inc (Palm Beach County Photography)

Two fridays ago I had the pleasure of volunteer with South Florida Recycled Dog Rescue. I am heading there later today to help out. In between doing all the important stuff, cleaning, feeding and cleaning I got to do some fun stuff like walk and photograph these two amazing pups. First off, Tido.
As you can see Tido loves people. He was not happy that i was standing a foot away. He is super sweet and so lovable.
Next up is Luna.
Luna may look like a tough dog but she is the biggest sweetheart. We went on a long walk and she was so happy to be with a person and out that she did not want to turn back when we made it to the end of the street.When I got home I noticed this perfect paw print on my tights. I could not help but think how cute.

this is makaila's families dog. they have two mastiffs. simba and nala. they are awesome. they truly just want to be your best friend though there size makes it hard to carry in your photo equipment and say hello with out them knocking you over.

trying to be an effective blogger i made drafts of post i could easily put up while i was not sitting in front of a computer well that totally did not happen. while on vacation i barley spent any time on the internet and not until around new years did i think of i should post those Christmas posts. so i will skip some but i can't help but share this one. this was suppose to be for my day after christmas to illustrate my excessive cookie eating and extreme laziness though i think you still get the idea.

these were suppose to be Christmas photos and they did make it on the lovely family Christmas card though they do not look Christmassy most likely has to do with the palm trees and shorts sleeves, though this is where my family always spent Christmas, so palm trees and christmas lights does feel a lot like Christmas.

long time no post

so things have been pretty busy at my full time job so i have had less energy to be working on the weekends, though i have two shoots this weekend that i am very excited about. i have also been considering creating a non photography blog some where else that would be more healthy living based but it might have to be a new year thing.

a while ago i had a chance to take a bike ride by myself and ended up way farther then i thought and stumbled upon this awesome jetty with really great rocks. since i had some how managed to bike 8 miles, which is a lot me me and had to bike that back i took a nice long photo break. here are three images from that venture that i really enjoy. i am hoping to work through the rest. as much as analog was a hassle the amount of frames i shot with digital is comparable.

i had quite the halloween weekend and i am kinda sad it took me this long to share but better late then never?

on saturday i visited makaila at her new home and found a great spot to take pictures. guess who makaila is?

then on sunday i went over to Vin's cousins house to do some trick or treating with buzz lightyear! evan was a tad confused what was going on. i mean he loved dressing up like buzz but he did not understand why we were walking around and asking for candy.

this was pre candy getting in his confused state. i swear there were smiles. i think his favorite part was playing with all the decorations that moved. even was accompanied by about 6 adults so next year we decided that we would come up with a theme and get all dressed up also his little brother will be a year old and hopefully ready to join us.

also, just want to mention the holiday mini sessions that i am offering. they are perfect for those holiday cards. i am still accepting regular appointments as well if you want a bit more range!

On 10-10-10 I had the great pleasure to hang out and photograph these two lovely high schoolers. At first they played kinda shy but that never lasts long. We went to this beautiful park that was huge. There were two parties we could hear, one which seemed like a 10 year olds birthday with a bounce house and all and one with a live band with a horrible singer, butchered seven nation army and swore a lot. It was kinda funny, glad I was with high school kids and not 12 year olds, because everyone could hear the crude things this guy was saying and its not like he was 20 feet from us he was a mile or so away on another side of a hill but anyway. But anyway here is a preview, more to come!

so little makaila is getting so big. it is amazing being able to see her every month at around the same time and see how much she has grown. she wants so bad to lift her had and sit up on her own. i brought a whole new set up to try to feel things out. working with makaila has been a huge learning experience. i am constantly trying to come with new ideas to improve the photographs that i produce and sometimes it works and sometimes it does not, nonetheless she is patience well to a point but more importantly her mom is so very patient with me and my process. i am very thankful for this opportunity to work and learn with such great people.

PENGUINS! (Palm Beach Photographer)

i have gotten quite a few comments about the penguins because come on who does not love penguins. also, thank you so much for the sweet comments about our engagement it is very special to be able to share with everyone. thank you. so my fiance love penguins. our house has more then its share of penguin stuffed animals, penguin ornaments, penguin statues, penguin salt and pepper shaker (2 sets), penguin pictures my fiances production company is even called Big Penguin Productions so to say the least he loves penguins, hence the penguin encounter and all. it really was a joy to hang out with these guys. they were super friendly and if not for the constant popping they could be fun pets. vinny kept trying to take one but he came to understand that they were quite happy where they were.

i love there marking so much. this guys beck is so cool. i love the white shell color at the end.

this penguin was quite old and would not be with us if she was a wild penguin but because of captivity they have been able to feed her and give her meds for her arthritis. she has a hard time walking so they tend to just carry here around. she seemed quite content to be hand fed and then lay and watch the others.

got it! there love for string was so funny and what me want to have them as a pet.

who would not want to be woken up with that face in front of you. evil death stare being like put down the camera and pick up the string, please.

my parents sent us flowers once they heard the news. it was super sweet of them. i keep meaning to ask about the arrangement. let it be known they were covered in sparkles. sadly our cat, dexter did not allow us to display them for long. we enjoyed them walking into the room though.

after breakfast we walked around for a bit so i could take general photos. here are some photos of the grounds yoga class in the far lounge area around fire pit in the front.

we then headed down to the beach, collins ave area. it was a little hot. i wish i could say we are used to it but its so hard to get used to. since moving down here i always have a water bottle with my. after this weekend i am adding an old hand towel to wipe the constant sweat off of us.

big announcement (Palm Beach Photography)

so i have been meaning to post this but because of the day off on monday and rosh hashanah it has been a crazy busy week. so as i mentioned this weekend my boyfriend vinny and i went to miami for a mini vacation. vin booked a hotel through one of those sites where they do not tell you the place until its booked which makes me nervous but he was like whatever. it turned out awesome... the place we stayed at is called The Standard it is this cool, mid century new agey place.

The weirdest thing was when our gps got us to the address, we pulled up to the Lido Spa which is a long running family joke. I had a couple great aunts that used to vacation at the Lido Spa and my family and I visited and we always talk about the sugar free jello they served which was beyond nasty. So low and behold five years ago it was bought and transformed into a hip cool hotel.

After we check in we headed over to Jungle Island for a penguin encounter. Vin loves penguins so he was very excited to meet some in person. Jungle Island was not my favorite place it felt a bit cramped for the animals but I have a hard time at zoo's in general but this felt like less then a zoo.

Also the admission is crazy expensive but they were having a deal for south florida residents... so score! So we showed up to visit the penguins and they were behind a gate and they were all clambering waiting to be let in, because they knew they were going to be feed. They were so cute.

After the jungle island employee gave us an over view on them she let them loose. We fed them a bunch of fish, they pooped everywhere and then we got to play with them. They played just like our cat. We were given strings and they would grab it with there beak and tug it around.

I was taking pictures and then vin called me over to him and i thought he was going to ask me to take a picture of something but instead he go down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!!!! and i said yes. it was so sweet... and so vin... it was perfect.

So, this is us... so happy even after sweating all day in 100 degree south florida weather and smelling like fish and penguin... how romantic... our type of romantic.

in the past four months my partner and i have welcomed 3 new family members into our families. he keeps saying how they are the new generation which just seems crazy i am not sure i can fully admit to be an adult. we have only met 1 of the new family members but we are hoping with in the next 6 months to see them all. so here is the amazing Matthew!

this is matthew's awesome big brother, evan. he has graced my blog many a times. he seems so much bigger now with the little one here. we had way to much fun playing with playdoh. both vin, my partner photographed below giving evan a playdoh mustache, love playdoh. i have to say we were both upset with the mass mixture of colors that evan had done but it was still fun. we both agreed that our childhood favorite playdoh thing was the barber shop where you could grow there hair. just so fun.

this past weekend i had a great session with makaila and her parents. we got there bright and early and caught a few of her still in pjs with sleepy eyes but that did not last long. soon we were in and out of clothes sporting all type designer wear. So this week I received in the mail my new phone! It is a droid x and its awesome. I have verizon so no iphone prospect for me though i have to say having the droid for oh 4 days i do not wish it was an iphone. I am still getting used to it and have made maybe four phone calls, it is a phone after all. i have to say i have been super impressed with the phone call clarity. The speaker phone is also great. Its very cool to have the internet at your finger tips as well even though i sit in front of a computer all day. So I excited not only for the weekend because it is the weekend but to be able to google things, check my blog and read emails. Also one of my favorite thing is the camera. I have been thinking of getting a point and shoot but I think this might just do.

This past weekend I went up north to Boston to visit my cousin and her husband. She is very pregnant and the baby could come any day. My parents also came up from Connecticut to spend the weekend and we all had a really fun time hanging out. I love Boston, well they live in Brookline, near BU, but it reminds me so much of college in Western Mass. There is just something so very different about being up North. It was such a blast spending time with family and I can not wait to go back up when the little one arrives!

Makaila Marie Month Two (Palm Beach Photography)

has is already been a month? well i headed down to see makaila and her lovely parents this past weekend. makaila has grown quite a bit and is way more alert then last month. it is really a blessing to work with the same people on such a consistent basis it provides a comfort level that is extremely helpful as well as helping me gauge my growth. it also helps me push my creativity, i have some ideas for next month already.

I heart faces: purple photo challenge! (Palm Beach Photographer)

this is makaila month 2! we had a great session this weekend. she was fun and playful and already gotten so much bigger. she seemed to have just discovered her tongue and was all about showing me it. one of her outfits was this adorable purple dress. it had a hat but she could not be bothered with it. way more fun with out the hat.

I Heart Faces: Over My Head (Palm Beach Photography)

so i have been checking out this site i heart faces for a while now and just kept second guessing myself/getting overwhelmed by all the great entries but for some reason today felt different so i am entering for the first time. i love the idea of having a prompt and shooting for it but for my first time i am going to go into my archives and use an image from a shoot i had with Gabriella in.

i liked the idea of the angle being over her head. i also just love how this picks up the details in her curly hair.

Baby Shower Time (Palm Beach Photographer)

the baby shower was a lot of fun. tons of food, cute decoration and fun games. you might also recognize some familiar faces like Raul and Terry. they have not found out the sex of the baby so the shower had a super cute cake in green with a stork.
